Classification

Summary

A craftsman who specializes in painting the exterior walls and roofs of residential houses. Responsible for paint selection, surface preparation, painting, finishing, and maintenance.

Description

House painters apply paint to the exterior walls and roofs of houses and buildings to enhance aesthetics and ensure waterproofing and durability. Before starting work, they inspect for deteriorated areas and perform surface preparation (cleaning, sanding, repairs, etc.), then apply primer, mid-coat, and topcoat using brushes, rollers, or spray guns. They assemble scaffolding and thoroughly manage safety, and develop construction plans according to weather conditions and paint characteristics. Uniformity of finish and color reproduction are required, and with experience, more advanced surface adjustment techniques and color proposals with higher design value become possible.

Future Outlook

Demand for renovations is increasing due to the aging of housing stock, promising stable employment. On the other hand, shortage of skilled workers is an issue, and acquiring skills in eco-friendly paints or high-durability paints will increase market value.
