House carpenters mainly assemble structural frames on top of foundations for wooden residences, performing assembly and finishing of roofs, floors, walls, installation of openings, etc. They read drawings, perform marking and notching processing, then assemble, using techniques such as metal fittings, nails, and mortise-and-tenon joints to ensure strength and precision. They also handle on-site safety management, coordination with craftsmen and other trades, quality and process management, and perform remodeling and repair work. Broad knowledge and experience from traditional construction methods to the latest wooden construction techniques are required.

Demand for wooden residences is stable, with increases expected in remodeling and traditional house renovations. On the other hand, an aging workforce and shortage of successors are challenges, and demand for carpenters with advanced skills will remain high.
