Summary

A profession that processes materials such as canvas and rope using looms or by hand to manufacture hammocks.

Description

Hammock manufacturing workers use ropes or fabrics made of cotton, nylon, etc., as materials, and manufacture the hammock body using looms, knitting machines, and sewing machines. They perform material cutting, weave adjustment, knot finishing, attachment of metal fittings and ropes, and quality checks. In addition to work on mass production lines, they may also be involved in manufacturing made-to-order products, and may be responsible for product design and material selection. The manufacturing process proceeds in the order of material preparation, cutting, weaving, sewing, assembly, finishing, and inspection. Much of the work is manual, requiring meticulous attention to detail and physical stamina.

Future Outlook

Due to the popularity of outdoor activities and increasing demand for handmade products, demand for custom hammock manufacturing is stable or increasing. However, competition with overseas manufacturing of low-priced products is intensifying, requiring improvements in quality and added value.
