Classification

Summary

Geological Surveyors (Mineral Prospecting) conduct field geological surveys and borehole surveys to explore mineral resources, collect and analyze samples, and evaluate the presence and quality of resources as a specialized profession.

Description

Geological Surveyors (Mineral Prospecting) conduct field geological observations, test drilling using boring equipment, and collection and management of core samples to clarify the presence, distribution, and grade of mineral resources. The collected samples are analyzed using petrographic and mineralogical methods or chemical analysis equipment (XRF, XRD, etc.), and geological cross-sections and ore deposit models are created. Based on survey results, drilling plans and resource quantity evaluations are conducted to support mining development and resource development projects from a technical perspective. They also handle work safety, environmental conservation, coordination with stakeholders, and report preparation.

Future Outlook

Survey demand is stable to increasing due to fluctuations in resource prices and environmental regulations. Technological advancement is progressing with the introduction of remote sensing and AI analysis.
