Description

Gas analysis technicians are specialists who collect gas samples such as factory exhaust gases, atmospheric samples, and process gases, and measure composition and concentration using gas chromatographs (GC), mass spectrometers (GC-MS), and infrared spectrometers (FTIR). They perform equipment calibration, maintenance inspections, safety management, and process measurement data using analysis software or Excel. Measurement results are reported to quality control or environmental conservation departments to ensure regulatory compliance and process optimization. Duties include preparing reagents and standard gases, optimizing measurement conditions, troubleshooting, and sometimes participating in research and development or developing new measurement methods.
