Summary

Felt manufacturing assistants handle auxiliary tasks in the felt product manufacturing line, from raw material feeding through machine operation to product cutting, inspection, and packing.

Description

Felt manufacturing assistants primarily support the production process of felt sheets using non-woven fabric manufacturing machines or needle punch machines. They measure and mix raw fibers, feed them into machines, monitor compression and forming processes, remove products between processes, cut them, feed them into dryers, and perform other tasks. They inspect product dimensions and appearance, exclude non-conforming items, and handle packing and shipping preparation for approved products.

Work is centered on line operations in factories, involving a lot of standing work, handling heavy materials, and tasks around machines. Operations often follow shift schedules based on production plans, requiring adherence to prescribed procedures with attention to safety and hygiene.

Dexterity, attention to detail, and teamwork are required. With on-site experience, career advancement to higher positions such as machine maintenance, quality control, and process improvement is possible.

Future Outlook

While Japan's textile industry is shifting production overseas, there may be introductions of automation technology due to demand for high-value-added products and small-batch, multi-variety production. The role of manufacturing assistants will continue, but changes in job content due to labor reduction are expected.
