Classification
Summary
A job that assembles, supports formwork for concrete pouring in construction and civil engineering works, and dismantles and cleans it after pouring.
Description
Concrete formwork assembly workers are specialists who fabricate, assemble, and support (using shoring) formwork for pouring concrete in concrete structures such as buildings, bridges, and tunnels. They read dimensions from drawings, cut and process materials like lumber, plywood, and steel, and assemble them accurately maintaining level and plumb. During pouring, they check the formwork's pressure resistance and fixation, and proceed safely. Work is done outdoors or at heights, requiring coordination with heavy machinery and teamwork with multiple people.
Future Outlook
Stable demand is expected due to ongoing public civil engineering and infrastructure renewal, as well as construction needs for housing and commercial facilities, against the backdrop of a shortage of skilled craftsmen. Succession of skills and advancement in mechanization are also challenges.
