Description

The co-pilot (first officer) assists the captain in piloting the aircraft, navigation, radio communication, and executing flight plans. Before departure, they conduct pre-flight inspections to check the condition of the aircraft and equipment, analyze weather information, and select the optimal route. During flight, they monitor instruments, manage fuel, adhere to emergency procedures, and collaborate with the captain to ensure safety. Regular simulator training and maintenance or renewal of type-specific piloting qualifications are required, and promotion to captain is possible after gaining sufficient experience.

Future Outlook

Job demand remains stable due to pilot shortages and the expansion of LCCs. Although automation technology is advancing, the need for human pilots remains high from the perspective of safety assurance.
