Classification

Summary

Manufacturing technicians who handle everything from raw material mixing to forming, drying, firing, and finishing for ceramics, tiles, bricks, concrete products, etc.

Description

Ceramics and stone product manufacturing workers mainly use clay or cement-based raw materials to produce ceramics, tiles, bricks, concrete blocks, etc. After preparation tasks such as raw material mixing, crushing, and sieving, products are shaped using press forming, extrusion forming, slip casting, etc. Moisture is removed using drying equipment, and product strength is ensured by firing in tunnel kilns or rotary kilns at specified temperatures and times. They then undergo finishing processes such as glaze application, polishing, inspection, and packaging before shipment. Work is performed in high-temperature environments or dusty conditions, making equipment operation and maintenance, quality control, and environmental and safety management important.

Future Outlook

While labor shortages are progressing due to declining birthrates and aging population, there is increasing demand for refractory materials and advanced ceramics, requiring a shift to advanced manufacturing technologies. Smart factory initiatives utilizing IoT and automation technologies are accelerating, and demand for personnel with quality control and process improvement skills will remain high in the future.
