Summary

Specialized profession that precisely assembles optical and mechanical parts of cameras and inspects appearance and optical characteristics to ensure quality.

Description

Camera subassembly inspectors precisely assemble optical parts such as lenses, apertures, and shutter units, as well as mechanical parts of cameras, and perform appearance inspections and optical performance inspections to ensure the quality of the finished products. They use dedicated jigs and measuring instruments to position parts with micron-level precision, and carry out tasks such as screw tightening and adhesive application. They may also be required to work in darkrooms or cleanrooms. For inspections, they use microscopes, phase contrast microscopes, MTF measuring devices, etc., to check for scratches, distortions, and deviations in optical characteristics, and are responsible for sorting defective products and analyzing causes.

Future Outlook

Due to the contraction of the camera industry and the spread of smartphones, production of conventional cameras is declining, but demand is expected to be maintained to some extent due to needs in industrial cameras, high value-added fields, and in-vehicle sensors. As automation and AI-based inspection technologies advance, advanced skills and adaptability will be required.
