Description

Building facilities managers are responsible for the overall management of buildings such as office buildings, apartments, and commercial facilities. They perform a wide range of tasks including regular inspections and maintenance of air conditioning, electrical, water supply and drainage, and disaster prevention equipment; cleaning and aesthetic management of common areas; reception of visitors; emergency response to equipment troubles; and arranging and supervising contractors. Creating safety inspection records, attending statutory inspections, and handling complaints from residents and users are also important. Shift work including 24-hour patrols and night shifts is common, and quick and accurate judgment and response are required in emergencies.

Future Outlook

While the introduction of IoT and remote monitoring systems is progressing, the demand for managers with advanced specialized knowledge and on-site response capabilities is expected to continue.
