Summary

A profession that cleans and manages hygiene inside and outside buildings such as offices, commercial facilities, etc., providing a comfortable environment for users.

Description

Building and facility cleaners are specialists who perform cleaning and hygiene management inside and outside buildings such as office buildings, commercial facilities, and public facilities. In daily cleaning, they handle cleaning and disinfection of floors, window glass, toilets, and common areas. In periodic cleaning, they are responsible for waxing, high-altitude glass cleaning, air conditioner filter cleaning, etc. They use cleaning tools and machines (vacuum cleaners, high-pressure washers, etc.), and are also required to handle waste disposal, equipment management, and work based on safety and hygiene standards. They carry out a wide range of tasks, including creating cleaning plans to improve efficiency, inspection reports, and responding to requests and complaints from users. Shift work, early morning or late-night shifts, and direct travel to and from sites are common.

Future Outlook

The demand for cleaning in buildings and facilities is expected to remain stable with the aging society and increasing hygiene awareness. While the introduction of automated cleaning robots will progress, human labor will still be needed for detailed areas, high altitudes, and special cleaning. Securing workers will be a challenge, and there is a possibility of expanded use of foreign workers and support for qualification acquisition.
