Brick Kiln Operator
れんがしょうせいこう
Industry & Occupation
Classification
Summary
Specialized profession that manufactures architectural bricks by firing molded clay raw materials in high-temperature kilns.
Description
Brick kiln operators knead and form raw materials such as clay, load the dried bricks into kilns, and fire them at appropriate temperatures and times to produce the final product. Since kiln temperature management and internal atmosphere control directly affect quality, they perform not only machine operations but also monitoring of temperature and humidity, and setting/adjustment of firing programs. After firing, they handle cooling, inspection of dimensions and strength, sorting of defective products, and finishing processes, as well as equipment inspections and maintenance to maintain stable production.
Future Outlook
With urban development and infrastructure maintenance, brick demand is expected to remain stable. In recent years, the introduction of energy-saving firing technology and automated equipment is advancing, increasing demand for technicians skilled in equipment maintenance and advanced quality control.
