Description

A blacksmith assistant is a job that heats metals such as iron and steel to red-hot state in a furnace and shapes them into the desired form by striking with a hammer or mallet. Following the instructions of the blacksmith master, performs tasks such as drawing out on the anvil, drilling holes, quenching, tempering, and other heat treatments, finishing products like blades, tools, and ornaments. The work environment is around furnaces in workshops or manufacturing factories, involving high temperatures, noise, and dust, requiring safety and health management and skilled manual work. After an apprenticeship period, one can become independent and advance their career to traditional craftsman, workshop manager, forging technology instructor, etc.

Future Outlook

Demand for small-scale workshops remains steady due to the inheritance of traditional techniques and increasing demand for high-value-added products. However, with the progress of mechanization, demand for manual work is limited, and there is a trend toward shifting to high-end product manufacturing with enhanced expertise.
