Summary
A profession that cuts, forms, joins, and polishes copper sheets to manufacture copper utensils and decorative items.
Description
Base copperware craftsmen use copper sheets as material, employing various processing methods such as cutting, bending, forging, and press forming to manufacture copper products like pots, kettles, teakettles, lamp shades, and architectural decorative components. Through processes including hammering, lathe work, high-frequency welding or brazing for joining, trimming, deburring, polishing, and pickling, they impart the products with their characteristic luster and dimensional accuracy. They produce based on drawings and may also perform post-processing such as rust prevention treatment and clear coating.

While demand for traditional crafts and architectural decorative materials remains strong, the number of practitioners is declining due to overseas production and lack of successors. Skill inheritance and high value-added development are considered important.
