Description

Apprentice Building Painter is an occupation to learn basic skills necessary for painting exterior and interior walls at construction sites. Main tasks include high-pressure washing for cleaning, scraping to remove old paint films and rust, sanding, masking and protective sheeting, application of sealer (undercoat material), mid-coat and top-coat, and operation of tools such as spray guns, brushes, and rollers. Also responsible for assisting with scaffolding assembly, safety management for high-altitude work, paint mixing and ratio management, and cleaning and organizing tools after use. Requires the ability to advance work efficiently and safely as a team.

Future Outlook

Due to renovation demand accompanying building deterioration and the spread of energy-saving paints, a stable labor shortage is expected to continue. Skill succession and high value-added construction are regarded as future challenges.
