Classification

Summary

A profession that forms an anodic oxide film on the surface of metals such as aluminum to improve corrosion resistance and decorative properties.

Description

Anodizing operators pre-treat metals such as aluminum (cleaning and degreasing), then perform anodic oxidation by passing current through an electrolyte to form an oxide film. After processing, they undergo dyeing (coloring) and sealing processes to impart corrosion resistance and appearance. They measure film thickness and uniformity in quality inspections, and are also responsible for equipment maintenance inspections and chemical management. Shift work on factory lines, safety and health management, and compliance with environmental regulations are also important tasks.

Future Outlook

Stable demand is expected due to needs for lightweighting and corrosion resistance in the automotive and electronics fields. With advancements in environmental regulation compliance and high-functionality technologies, technicians' expertise will be increasingly required.
