Responsible for the husbandry and care of laboratory animals, supporting the smooth operation of experiments conducted by researchers.

Description

The Laboratory Animal Assistant (Husbandry) manages and cares for laboratory animals used in safety evaluations of pharmaceuticals and chemicals, basic research, etc., on a daily basis, supporting researchers so that experiments proceed as planned. Specifically, this includes cleaning cages, feeding and watering, managing environmental temperature and humidity, observing and recording animal health conditions, and performing simple treatments as needed. Additionally, from the perspective of animal welfare and the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), appropriate husbandry environments are maintained, and operations strictly adhere to laws and experimental protocols. They often work in research institutions, pharmaceutical companies, university laboratories, etc., and take on part of the hygiene and safety management systems.

Future Outlook

With the promotion of the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) in animal experimentation, the expertise in husbandry management is becoming more emphasized. Demand in research institutions and pharmaceutical companies remains stable, but trends in alternative method development also need attention.
