Classification

Summary

Technician who handles raw material selection for abrasives, development of manufacturing processes, and evaluation. Researches and develops materials with appropriate grinding characteristics and durability, and supports product commercialization.

Description

Abrasive materials development engineers handle grinding wheels, grinding cloths, diamond abrasives, and other abrasives used in grinding processes, including raw material selection, composition design of bonds and supports, investigation and optimization of manufacturing processes, and evaluation testing. They develop materials that meet requirements such as grinding efficiency, processed surface quality, durability, and cost-effectiveness according to the workpiece and processing conditions. They use experimental equipment and analytical instruments to evaluate microstructures and physical properties, and are also involved in quality control and introduction of mass production technologies.

Future Outlook

With the advancement of high-precision and automation in manufacturing, the demand for high-performance abrasives is expected to remain stable. Due to strengthened environmental regulations, the development of eco-friendly materials and research on recycled abrasives will become important, and the development of abrasives using nanomaterials and composite materials will become a growth area in the future.
